Ms. Mamie Collins

Ms. Mamie Ree Collins affectionately known as “Jackie or Jack” was born May 6, 1937 in Quincy, Florida to the late Ms. Queenie B. Thrower and the late Mr. George Collins.

Jackie attended the Calhoun County, Georgia School System and graduated from Edison High School.

Jackie confessed Christ at an early age and joined Beulah Baptist Church, Albany, Georgia. Serving faithfully under the leadership of Reverend J.H. Reynolds, Sr. until her health started to decline.

In 1956, Jackie moved to New York. Later she moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she lived for many years before moving back to Albany, Georgia.

Jackie was employed as a Cook, Waitress, Bartender, and a Housekeeper for many years. Jackie loved any kind of puzzles; especially jigsaw and word find puzzles. She also enjoyed spending much of her time with her friends at the Albany Senior Life Enrichment Center.

Jackie departed this life on February 11, 2020. She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Collins (Albany, GA); her brothers, Bobby R. Lyons (Starke, FL), and Alvin Thrower (Valencia, CA).

Jackie leaves to cherish her memories her children, Calvin L. Collins, Albany, GA, Sandra E. (Dan) Shealy, Albany, GA, Joe L. Wilkerson, Jr., Albany, GA; three sisters, Joyce L. Paul, Albany, GA, Josephine L. Childs, Albany, GA, Beverly Thrower, Atlanta, GA; a brother, Melvin G. Thrower, Albany, GA; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
