Mrs. Evelyn Hylick

Mrs. Hylick accepted Christ at an early age and joined Zion Hope Baptist Church in Sumter City, GA. Prior to her passing she held membership at the Institutional First Baptist Church before returning to Mount Zion Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Dr. Daniel Simmons and was a member of the choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Elder and Jimmie Lee Daniel Champion; her husband, Julius Dewitt Hylick Sr, son Julius Dewitt Hylick Jr; brother, Deacon George (Runette) Champion, Sr. sister, Jenniel C. Johnson and grandson, Brandon Hylick.

Evelyn graduated from Staley High School in Americus, GA and then matriculated to Savannah State (College) University in Savannah GA; majoring in Home Economics. She later transferred and graduated from Albany State (College) University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Mrs Hylick spent over 35 years as an elementary school teacher in the Terrell and Dougherty County School Systems.

Mrs. Hylick leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Sandra (Sam) Allen of Valdosta, GA and LaTanya R. Jackson of Albany, GA; son, Joseph Bernard (Andreen) Hylick of Atlanta, GA, her brothers, Theotis "Ray" (Martha) Daniel, Sr., of Rochester, NY; Andrew "Dad" (Doris) Daniel Sr. and Deacon James Edward Champion Sr. both of Smithville, GA; Sisters, Thelma C. Johnson, Dr. Lois C. Price, Ola C. Dawsey, Barbara C. Mitchell, Carolyn C. Mallory all of Albany, GA and Myrtice C. Johnson of Macon, GA; Grandchildren, Dr. Ericka Hylick, Anthony (Diandra) Hylick Sr., Cristen (Armand Miller, Danielle Jackson, Courtney (Fiifi) Agyabeng-Dadzie, Hagan Hylick, Jalen Hylick, Bridget Hylick, Joseph Hylick, Jamison Hylick, Germanee' Hylick and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
