Mrs.Carolyn Bentley Cooper

July 18, 1950 — May 8, 2024

Albany

Mrs. Carolyn "Jab" Bentley Cooper was called home May 8, 2024, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. She was born July 18, 1950, in Camilla, Georgia.

She was the fourth of seven children of Mary and Elmo Bentley, both now deceased. Carolyn was educated in the public schools of Mitchell County.

Ms. Cooper confessed Christ at an early age at New Hope #2 Missionary Baptist Church in Pelham, Georgia, under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Butts. She later changed her membership and joined The Church of the Kingdom of God, Inc. where she served under the leadership of the late Pastor Gussie Lowe Whitlow. Carolyn was always a smiling light in the church where she diligently served in the women's department, hospitality ministry, and culinary division. Sis. Cooper was a faithful bible study participant where she attended weekly for several years. She was also an avid community supporter on the "eastside" and affectionately loved her neighbors and the neighborhood where she resided for almost fifty years!!!

Carolyn was a hard-working woman who loved people and took great pride in her workmanship; above all, her greatest accomplishment was raising two beautiful daughters and assisting in rearing her grandchildren. She took those motherly skills and for many years, she professionally worked as a caregiver for many children, from babies to pre-teens. She was truly a mother to many who encountered her, always sharing some "mother-wit" nuggets of wisdom to whomever she could advise. A 'REAL" child of the King, she was a smart woman who got a degree in life and living, for she was able to teach anyone how to buy a home and keep it; successfully make and spend the almighty dollar and still have a little put up for a rainy days get through painful moments without losing her smile; and love people in spite of what they may do to her.

Carolyn "Jab" Bentley Cooper was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Kal’Noria Jones of Greenville, South Carolina; three sisters, Irene Wright, Roberta Willingham, and Rena Mae Bentley of Camilla, Georgia, and one brother, Willie James Bentley of Camilla, Georgia.

She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Shannon (Hezekiah) Massey of Greenville, South Carolina, and Tiffany Cooper of Albany, Georgia: four grandchildren, Quantavious Medlock and Tyus Jones of Greenville, South Carolina, and ZaMarion and Za'Mari Cooper of Albany, Georgia; one sister, Emma (Grady) Langford of Atlanta, Georgia; a close friend, Richard Acree, one best friend, Alfredia Mackroy, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
