Alma was a committed Christian and a true believer in God. She remains an iconic inspiration to us all.
Alma Beatrice Chatmon was a resident of Albany, Georgia for (63) Sixty-three years.
During her early years, Alma trained and worked professionally as a sales assistant at the world famous Fort Benning Military Base in Columbus, Georgia. It was there that she met her destiny and married the man of her life, the beloved Thomas C. Chatmon, Sr; Their Union of Fifty-Seven years was blessed with five children, Christa, Patricia, Tommy, Pamela, and Tracey.
As a business owner and entrepreneur, Alma experienced a long and successful career with her husband whom she always called "Chatmon". For four challenging decades, she was the driving force behind Chatmon's Beauty Supplies Inc.
Alma was educated in Opelika Alabama and attended Darton College of Albany.
After sixty years, she remained a faithful member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, serving on Steward Board # 2 and Choir # 2. Her community involvement included, the American Heart Association, The Sarah Allen Outreach Ministry and her more than thirty active years with the Las Amigos Community Club.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her five children, Thomas C. Chatmon Jr. (Brenetta) of Orlando, FL; Tracey Chatmon, of Albany, GA, Christa Chatmon Ellis of Stonecrest, GA, and Patricia Chatmon Perryman and Pamela Chatmon Washington, both of Atlanta, GA, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
