Ms. Vera Stewart Reid, a beloved member of the community, was born on May 15 1936 in Jacksonville, to the late Walter and Vera Jackson Stewart. She departed from this life on October 24, 2023, in Albany, Georgia.
Vera received her education at public schools in Dougherty County and graduated from Monroe High School in 1955. Throughout her life, she was a dedicated and faithful member of Cutliff Grove Baptist Church until her illness.
Leaving behind cherished memories to be treasured, Vera is survived by her loving daughter, LaSere Reid-Smith. Sadly, Frederick preceded her in death. She is also survived by three sisters: Lillian Byrd (James), Samuel Stewart (Barbara) from Moultrie, GA; Gwendolyn Seabrooks (Johnny), and Peggye Lemon (Edward), all from Albany, GA. Additionally, she leaves behind two grandchildren: LaShondra Dennard (Johnny) and Christopher Corbett (Lavetta). Her legacy also includes four great-grandchildren: Zy’Keria Brantley, Zachariah Brantley, Alyssia Wesley, and Lively Corbett. Vera is further mourned by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family members.
In honor of Ms. Vera Stewart Reid's life and as a beautiful way to pay tribute to her memory, there will be no funeral service held. Instead, the family invites friends and loved ones to join them for a balloon release and celebration on October 28th, 2023 at 705 Wheeler Ave., Albany GA from 1-5 PM.
During this time of grieving and remembrance, let us collectively celebrate the remarkable life that Ms. Vera Stewart Reid lived and cherish the indelible impact she made on those around her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
