Sarah Williams “Sister” was born on June 10, 1943 in Albany, Georgia to Richard and Sarah Diggs.
Sarah Williams was also known to many as “Momma”. She born and raised in Albany, Georgia. She attended school in Doughtery County, Georgia. She moved to Newark, New Jersey where she continued her education at Essex County College. Later in life she moved back to her hometown of Albany, Georgia. She loved helping people as had a big heart and was a natural giver. She especially enjoyed working at Mountainside Hospital in New Jersey.
She also loved the Lord. She studied her Bible fervently. You could ask her anything in the bible she knew where to find it.
Sarah was the life of all family events. When she arrived you knew it, and that it was going to be some trash talking and lots of fun. She was a woman of many great talents. She loved to dance, read and was an amazing cook. She was also an avid watcher of classic western movies.
Sarah loved her family. She had nicknames for many of her grandchildren, who loved their “Nana” dearly, such as: Rah, Kee, Buttons, Prissy, Princess, Womack Jr, Tae Tae, Fella, Shakil, Big Boy, Big Ma, Ma Ma, Punk, Smiley and Cotton Ball. After a while you didn’t remember what your government name was.
Sarah was preceding in death by her parents, Richard and Sarah Johnson- Diggs; grandsons Isiah Williams and Keean Williams; sisters Josie Mae Brown, Joycee Chapman, Beatrice Saylor, Joyce Anacin, and LuCinda Richardson; and brothers Ernest McCarthy and Paul.
Sarah leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children: Sonja D. Williams, Martha Williams-Womack (Antonio), Richard Williams (Susan), Mia Williams, Darlene Magdalinski and Ursula Martin. Her precious grandchildren: Rashaan (Corine), Shatima, Shakir, Jeremy (Jessica), Daniel, Ryan, Jaquan, Shanyce, Danielle, Michael, Emmanuel, Tricia, Alexis, Rashad, Ashley, Najah, Ashley, Fatirah Taylor, Alia, Demetrius, Titianna, Aiden, and Carter. Her loving great grandchildren, one sister, Vella Green, friends Omelia Barnum, Sharon Staten and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
