Earnestine Taylor Jones was born June 4, 1949 to the late Weedia Bryant Taylor and
Frank Taylor in Albany, Georgia. At an early age, she confessed Christ and joined the
First Kiokee Baptist Church. She later joined the flock of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist
Church.
Educated in the Dougherty County School System, she excelled academically. She
graduated from Monroe High School in 1966 and went on to Albany State College
(University) then graduated from Valdosta State University with a bachelor’s degree in
Technical, Trade, and Industrial Education. On January 7th 1977, she was joined in
Holy matrimony to the late Morris Jones. To this union, one son was born, Sherrod.
Earnestine’s skills were put on display as she worked in various sectors including Gibbs
Kaserne in Frankfurt, Germany and Albany State University, before joining the staff at
the Marine Corps Logistics Base, where she remained faithfully for 29 years. Upon
retirement, she was showered with praise and honors for exemplary service.
She was a very committed member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was active in her
community and truly lived by the principle of servant leadership. She was a dedicated
member of the SOWEGA Council on Aging Advisory Council, the mentoring and
scholarship program for current Monroe High School students, Toastmasters
International, Blacks In Government (BIG), the Indian Creek Residential Association
(ICRA), and she was energetically engaged in the business of the church by
volunteering for several groups and committees.
Earnestine cherished her only son more than life itself and he held her heart. On the
evening of January 15, 2024, Earnestine went peacefully to be with her Savior in Albany,
GA, in the arms of her only child. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death
by two sisters: Sharon Jean Bryant and Joyce Marie Bryant.

Dyer, Jr of Hampton, GA and Andrew Rowe of Dallas, TX; one aunt: Juanita “Betty”
