Mrs. Carrie Lacount

September 13, 1927 — January 30, 2023

Mrs. Carrie Lacount was born on September 13, 1927 to the late George and Odessa Brown. In Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.

She was the second of four children, George Brown Jr., Oliver Brown and Dearren Brown Sr., all of whom preceded her in death. After becoming of age, Carrie gave birth to a son Eugene Brown, Charles, Victor and Vernita Lacount, Grandchild Antonio Perry all preceded her in death.

Carrie was educated in the Fulton County school system where she learned to sew. Sewing became her passion and she would often make trendy outfits or alter the ones she had that needed her attention.

Carrie later met and married Buster Lacount in Savannah, Georgia on September 1946. To this union three children were born. Carrie was a full time homemaker. Although her marriage to Buster did not last she did not give up on love. She left Georgia and settled in Miami Florida where she met Charlie L. Smith. They were together for 46 years until his demise. Carrie later moved to Georgia with her daughter Linda in July 2015. Carrie lived a long life, her twinkling eyes, gentle smile and her quiet demeanor will be missed by everyone who knew her.

She leaves seven children to cherish her memories Charlene Smith of Covington Georgia, Linda Smith-Thomas (Eddie) of Albany, Georgia, Phyllis Cox, Charlie Smith , Darren Smith, Joe Smith-Lacount and Joseph Smith- Lacount all of Miami Florida, fifteen grandchildren, Tonya L. Clark, Victoria Perry-Aice, Dennis Davis, Ta’Shara Whitehead, Chiquita Smith (Douglas), Torreon Martin, Rachel Cox, Sheila Ferguson, Jeremy Cox (Shantay), Marcus Cox, Charles Davis, Aaron Cox, Jasmine Lacount, Janaiya Lacount and Jodia Lacount, eighteen great grandchildren and a host of relatives, friends and a special supportive friend Torsha Lennear.

A special thank you to the staff at the Wynfield Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. We, the family of Carrie Lacount, are forever grateful for the tender loving care you provided to our Mother.

Special Thanks to Ms. Lydia Rensh for being a loving and supportive roommate for our Mother.
