Our beloved Annie C. Jones James, the daughter of the late Rev. York Sr. and Mariah Jones, was born on June 4, 1934, in Albany, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers, three sisters, a daughter Hazel Thornton Broadway, two sons Christopher James, Roosevelt “Tootie” James, Jr. and a grandson Timothy “TJ” James, Jr.
At a very early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the 2nd Bethesda Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Scott. She exercised her faith as a devoted church member and used her voice to praise and uplift Christ within the choir. In 1976, she won the title of Ms. 2nd Bethesda, a title she wore with grace.
She received her education in the Dougherty County school system at Monroe High School.
She was united in holy matrimony on August 21st, 1956, to the late Roosevelt “Snow” James Sr.
She worked as a cook for over 50 years at Magnolia Plantation. She cooked for a lot of distinguished individuals including two Presidents: President Jimmy Carter and President George Bush. By the time of her retirement, she was the head cook for the plantation and made lastly relationships with everyone she met.
Wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and loyal friend Annie C. was a loving powerhouse of a woman. She was giving, genuine and knew how to make any and everyone feel special as they were to her.
On Wednesday, June 19th, 2024, the Angel of God escorted Sister James home to glory.
In celebration of this day, she leaves six children, Minister Gregory (Laverda) Jones of Fayetteville, Ga, Lelia James, Alton James, Timothy (Timika) James of Albany, Ga, Michael (Kimberly) James of Riverdale, Ga and Biafra James (late Kevin Sr) of Albany, Ga. She also leaves a daughter in love Mattie James.
She was affectional called Granny by her 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Grandchildren: Deborah, Fred, Chris, Machell, Cornelius, Malcolm, Lawanda, Corey, Dominique, Kim, Kawanda, Kiara, Christopher, Cappericcia, Jada, Jaunae, Jamoni, Kynarrius, Kynard, and Kevin.
Great grandchildren: Tiara, Vinson Jr., Fred Alexander, Fred, Lyndin, Savannah, Leilani, Chance, Jordan, Kenya, Indya, Courtney, CaYanna, Briana, Marvin, Nicole, Rylan, Karsen, Kymeria, Chanel, Kamryn, and Kaiden.
Her legacy continues with 11 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She leaves a special friend/grand Meria Little
