Mr. George "Georgia Boy" Nelson

George Wade Nelson was born in Mitchell County on December 19, 1950 to Addie J. Rivers and Leroy Nelson.

During the early years of his life, he attended the public schools of Dougherty County. He later earned his diploma in Macon, Georgia.

In 1992 he fell in love with the love with the love of his life, Carolyn Stephens and they united as one. they raised one son, Deangelo Peterson.

George was a very humorous, kindhearted, sweet, respectable, easy and laid back person. He was fun to be around and loved his family dearly. He also loved to joke around and make you laugh. He will truly be missed by family and friends.

Sadly he was called home on May 11, 2018. He leaves to cherish the loving memories of his life, his wife Carolyn Nelson, a son, Deangelo Peterson, his mother, Addie Rivers, his brothers, Tommy L. Riggins, Jerome Nelson, and Jerry Nelson, his in-laws, Christine Roberts, Tameka Peterson, Glory and Curtis Stephens, Larry and Teko Stephens, Sam Stephens, Milton Stephens, Addie Stephens, Maple Culbreath, and Mary and Willie Stephens, a niece, Janice Riggins, his nephews, Carl Garrett, Lorenzo Riggins, Tommy Riggins and Illya Riggins, great nieces, Jasmine Riggins, China Floyd and Nykesha Riggins, devoted cousins, Anthony B. Holt Sr., Bestie Riggins, Brenda Riggins, Arthur Lee, James Spence and Lucile Edwards and a host of other relatives and friends.
