Deacon Charlie Hayes Singleton was born on June 14, 1942 to the late Mrs. Sadie Singleton -Williams and the late Mr. Charlie Hayes in Leary, Georgia. The seeds of Deacon Charlie Hayes Singleton were planted in Calhoun County. He attended the public schools of Calhoun County and graduated from H.T. Singleton High School in 1962. While walking in the spirit and trusting in God’s word, he confessed Christ at an early age at the Spring Creek M.B. Church of Leary, Georgia. He served faithfully as a deacon until his health failed. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Clary Singleton in 1966. To this union , two children were born. Several years later, he married Pearl Clark Singleton, who preceded him in death. He later married Sheila Whitus Singleton, who preceded him in death. To this union, one child was born. Throughout his life, Deacon Charlie worked hard in the following occupations to provide for his family: Kentucky Fried Chicken, Georgia Pacific Paper Plant, Jackson’s Chicken Box, Owner/Operator of Charlie and Pearl’s Country Fried Chicken and Nick’s Window Tinting. He departed this life on Wednesday, February 26,2020 at his home. Two sisters preceded him in death, Mary Ann Davis and Barbara Jean Reed. Those left to cherish his memories are seven daughters, Chart asia Singleton, Melissa Allen (Steve), Sheta’ Weeks, Melody Owens (Willie), Torie Jones, Shirlette Hudson (Jeffery), and Iesah Smith (Charoski ,) all of Albany, GA; five sons, Daryle Singleton (Cindy) of Greenville, SC, Delron Singleton (Jakki), Kenneth Charles Williams (Artie), Ricardo Wright (Sabrina), and Illya Lyons (Lashica), all of Albany, GA; six sisters, Essie Singleton, Juanita Reed, Stella Robinson, Janet Harris, Elizabeth Hayes and Muriel Hayes all of Albany, GA; one adopted sister, Gladys Southern of Atlanta, GA; four brothers, Joe Williams (Cheryl), Clifford Hayes (Joyce), Austin Hayes and Robert Jackson (Johnnie Mae) all of Albany, GA; a very loving and devoted companion, Willie Mae McBride. He was blessed to have twenty -one grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Charlie was the type of guy who was a friend to everyone. He was blessed to have some great friends who stood by him until the very end which was Willie Albert Johnson, Huley Moultrie, George Gammage, Nick Walker and Rick Walker.
