Grady Williams was born on November 21, 1935, in Albany, Georgia, to the late James Williams and Carrie Bell Cheeks Scott.
In 1955, at an early age, he joined the Army. Once he completed his assignment, he returned home for a short time then he moved to Buffalo, New York, where he spent over 20 years.
Grady accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He received the “right hand of fellowship” into the body of Christ at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. From that point forward, he devoted himself faithfully to God’s purpose and the calling on his life. Over the years, he proudly served as a deacon at Oak Grove.
On April 16, 2024, Grady answered the Master’s call to eternal peace and rest. He was preceded in death by his father, James Williams, his mother, Carrie Bell Cheeks Scott, and his brother Jimmie Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Veronica Gay and Debra Flood; four grandchildren, Nikia L. Carter (Christopher), Lamonte B. Flood, Octavis O. Wallace, and Derrick L. Wallace; a loving and devoted sister, Victoria Williams and an uncle, Jessie Cheeks of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; five nephews, Timothy Campbell (Lajuana), Ronald Campbell (Felicia), Victor Campbell, Jimmie Williams, Jr., Jamal Williams (Aprile); seven nieces, Florenda Campbell, Lanise C. Wright (Kenneth), Teresa C. Green (Sheldon), Laverne Campbell, Jackie C. Parks (Anthony), Ladelya Jackson (Willie), Mitzi Williams Crocker (Kenya); and a host of great-grandchildren, great nephews and nieces, cousins, extended family and friends. He also leaves behind a very special cousin and neighbor, Ben Dyson.
