July 4, 1953 was a memorable day that God blessed James Curtis Young into the world. He was the youngest son born to the late Artis, Sr. and Ruth Young in Terrell County, Dawson, Georgia.
He was educated in the Terrell County School System and a graduate of Class of 1971. After graduating from high school, he was employed with Livingston, Lee County for a brief time. James then moved to Riviera Beach, Florida and was employed with Roger Dean Chevrolet. James returned to Dawson, Georgia and began working with Railroad industry for 28 years. He retired from Genesee & Wyoming in 2018.
At a very early age, James accepted Christ and joined the Mountain Grove Baptist Church. He later joined Greater 2nd Mount Olive Baptist Church.
James was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. James was outgoing and a friendly person. He enjoyed visits with neighbors and family, and nobody was a stranger in his eyes. He will be remembered for his loud toned while playing cards and enjoying the backyard.
James was united in holy matrimony to Pamela Jones Young on November 24, 1999.
James made his earthly transition on Friday, January 28, 2022. Greeting him at the golden gates of heaven will be his parents, brother Walter, sisters Dorothy and Daisy, and grandson, Detraveon.
Our hearts are filled with sorrow, but heaven has welcomed a faithful servant. Now the roll can be called. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving and devoted wife Pamela, children Carlos, Tara, Eric, and Danyel; grandchildren Akirah, DeAsjah, Savannah, Laila, Erin, and Liv; sisters Essie(George), Betty, Rena, Helen (Billy), Ola (Leonard), Yvonne (Artis), Bobbie Jean, Wendy, Angela, Nicole, Gail, Helen, and Peggy; brothers Artis, Jr. (Betty), Willie Frank (Ann), Joe (Angela), Augustus, Willie, and Glen, three aunts, Mattie Ruth, Rena, and Corene; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, caring friends, and devoted neighbors. Devoted caregivers Charles Spencer, Samuel West, Harold Wright, Sharon Jackson. His one and only, right hand young man, LaCamryn.
