Deacon Willie D. Woods Jr. was born September 14, 1951, in Cotton Georgia, to the late Deacon Willie D. Woods Sr. and Christine Woods.
Deacon Woods passed from this life on January 6, 2024, at Phoebe Putney Hospital. He attended Dougherty County Public Schools and graduated from Monroe High School in 1969.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Second Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dozier Scott where he served until his final call.
He was employed with Proctor and Gamble Paper Company for 27 years before retiring in 1999.
Deacon Woods was preceded in death by his parents, and his son Marcellus Woods.
He leaves his legacy with his wife Mattie Woods, one daughter D'Andrea (Jason) Joyce, two grandchildren Tassiana Joyce and Nigel Joyce, two brothers Richard (Mamie) Woods and Earl (Kimberly) Woods, one sister-in-law Ethel Jane King, two brother in laws Roland Anthony King and Henry Earl King and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
